Program Overview from Charles Tracey

Hello and welcome to another season of travel basketball, my name is Charles Tracey. I would like to take this time to update you, inform you and overall make you aware of what we are doing, planning to do and what we did. I am not and English major, so I may have a few sentences that go on for 10 lines, with a bunch of commas. My apologies in advance. What I am good at is Basketball training and that is why you are with us. As far as our method it may seem confusing at first, We have used this method of training and playing for some 12 plus years. It works. We have modified and changed it several times to keep up with trends and needs of our players as the game changes. What has not changed is our passion to teach and train players to play basketball.

This weekend we have started to play games in Tournaments and League Play. By next week all of our teams will be playing. I want to go over just what we do and how we do it for all our new players and parents. At first this may seem really complicated but it is not.

First of all, our goal is simple. WE WANT TO CHANGE THE WAY YOUR CHILD PLAYS AND THINKS ABOUT BASKETBALL. WHAT DEDICATION PASSION AND COMMITMENT IS. WE WANT YOUR CHILD TO HAVE THE BEST BIDDY, JUNIOR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL CAREERS AS POSSIBLE. IF THE STARS ALIGN, HAVE AN OUTSTANDING COLLEGE CAREER AS WELL. That is it and along the way we can help inform and guide you through the basketball maze you find your family in. If you wish.

What do we do? Simple, we TRAIN players, through various proven methods we have at our disposable. Because of our numbers of players and trainers under one roof, we can use various methods of training no one group or organization can. Parents remember, we train. Games are a mechanism we use to train your child. Games do not make your child better, the training prior does. Games indicate to the trainers what we need to work on and focus on in training. Each training session is structured to build and advance your child’s skill, toughness, fundamentals and IQ. When you miss these training sessions you miss a lot. You miss to many you won’t play in games, regardless. This year we have expanded our Elite level teams, let me be the first to tell you that our Elite teams are full of tough, aggressive, dedicated, passionate, big players. Those are great traits but as the players get older, most team they will play have those same traits. The team that wins those games and the players that rise to the top are the ones with better skill, fundamentals and IQ.

Monday and Tuesday are SKILLS AND FUNDAMENTALS days at our gyms. These days we focus only on skill and fundamentals. Each month we change our focus on skills and fundamentals, so our players game can advance in understanding and performance. Wednesday and Thursday are TEAM days, where we focus only on plays, sets and schemes. Then we play on Saturday and sometimes Sundays. Games days are where we figure out what the players have learned and understood and what they have not. These learning then become the basis of our training. Basketball is a difficult sport but learning is easy if you put the time in. WE ARE A PROGRAM NOT A SET TEAM. We are not somewhere you can jump into and learn basketball in two months, then think you are good, No sport allows that. We have Elite players in 7/8/9 grade that have 4/5 grade skill, fundamentals, IQ levels. We have 4 graders with better ball skills than elite 8/9 graders. Those players that come thru our program are trained thru progression, they are taught first the skills/fundamentals for their age/grade first then they moved on. Some get it some don’t. this is why we have different levels of teams now, so every level player can get the appropriate training so they can move on.
